Meet Dr. Taylor

Dr. David Taylor is a Board Certified Orthodontic Specialist Located in McAllen, Texas. We service the surrounding cities and the entire Rio Grande Valley. He diagnoses and completes all treatments, which ensures superior results and continuity of care.

Dr. Taylor grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and graduated from the University of Western Ontario’s School of Dentistry. There, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 2005, graduating with distinction. During his four years of Dental School, Dr. Taylor was awarded many distinctions, which are listed below.

Becoming a Board-Certified Orthodontist

Following his dental training, Dr. Taylor did his orthodontic residency at the Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. There, he earned his certificate in Orthodontics in 2007. Concurrently, he completed a Master of Science (MS) for his research in decalcification during orthodontic treatment. During this same year, the American Association of Orthodontists’ Annual Session selected Dr. Taylor’s research for presentation.
 
Also in 2007, Dr. Taylor received a Fellowship in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. One year later, in 2008, he became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (board-certified). Significantly, two of the cases he presented to become board certified were selected for the American Board of Orthodontic Case Display. He received this prestigious honor at the 2008 American Association of Orthodontists Annual Session.
 
Dr. Taylor is not only a member and Diplomate of the American Association of Orthodontics, but he is also a member of many more associations:
  • member and Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada
  • Vanguard Society member of the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation
  • American Dental Association and Texas Dental Association member
  • former President of the Rio Grande Valley District Dental Society.

Dr. Taylor moved to McAllen in 2010 and opened his dream office: A Perfect Smile Orthodontics. Here, Dr. Taylor strives to provide the RGV community with the best in orthodontic care. Not only is he masterful with his orthodontic braces treatment, but he is also the Rio Grande Valley’s most experienced and largest Invisalign Provider.
 
Concurrently, Dr. Taylor stays informed of the most modern and cutting-edge orthodontic techniques. As a result of his constant and continuing education, he is proud to provide the latest in orthodontics and Invisalign to his patients.
 
Additionally, Dr. Taylor lectures and has been an instructor for many events and Orthodontic courses over the years. He truly enjoys teaching and sharing his knowledge with other orthodontists, orthodontic residents, general dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants. He also lectures locally to the Rio Grande Valley District Dental Society (with over 200 dentist members), the Seattle Study Club of South Texas, the Rio Grande Valley District Hygiene Society, and to hygiene students at TSTC.
 
In his spare time, Dr. Taylor volunteers with the charity Dentists Who Care (of which he is a past President). He also enjoys reading and staying fit with regular workouts and spin classes. However, what Dr. Taylor cherishes the most is spending time with his family.
