What are Traditional Braces used to correct?
Class 1 Malocclusion –Crooked Teeth Bite is OK, but patient has crooked teeth.
Class 1 Malocclusion is where teeth are biting properly and the top and bottom teeth are aligned, but the teeth are crooked, twisted, or crowded together.
Class 2 Malocclusion – “Overbite Correction”
Class 2 Malocclusion is also sometimes called a deep bite, or buck teeth. In this class, the upper teeth are pushing forward and not meeting properly with the bottom teeth, and are instead biting over the lower teeth.
Class 3 -Malocclusion – “Underbite”
Similar to “overbite,” except that the lower teeth are positioned too far forward, instead of the upper teeth.
Crossbite -- This is similar to underbite, where the lower teeth are out in front of the upper teeth. For proper bite, the front teeth should be forward and in front of the lower teeth when you bite. Crossbite can be fixed with braces.
Gaps in Teeth: Sometimes a patient has a gap between two teeth, or even small gaps between a number of their teeth. A gap between the two front teeth can be unsightly, but is easy to correct with braces. Get a free consultation and find out how easy and affordable braces can be.
A Simple Introduction to Braces
Braces Will Give Your A Great Smile and Comfortable Bite
Traditional braces are a combination of wire, elastic bands, and plastic brackets that are fitted onto the patient’s teeth.
The first step in the application of braces is to attach the metal brackets, which are placed onto the teeth with a special form of glue. These metal brackets, along with elastic bands, hold the wire in place against the side of the patient’s teeth. The wire length is then adjusted in a way that applies gentle pressure on the teeth, encouraging them to move into a new position.
Over a period of time and a few adjustment consultations, the teeth will shift into their new alignment, thanks to the subtle pressure placed on the teeth.
