What do Traditional Braces Correct?
Class 1 Malocclusion: Crooked Teeth
Teeth are biting properly, and the top and bottom teeth are aligned, but the teeth are crooked, twisted, or crowded together.
Class 2 Malocclusion: “Overbite”
Also sometimes called a deep bite or buck teeth. In this class, the upper teeth are pushing forward and not meeting properly with the bottom teeth, and are instead biting over the lower teeth.
Class 3 Malocclusion: “Underbite”
This is similar to an overbite, except that the lower teeth are positioned too far forward.
Crossbite:
This is similar to an underbite, where the lower teeth are out in front of the upper teeth. For a proper bite, the front teeth should be forward and in front of the lower teeth when you bite.
Gaps in Teeth:
Sometimes a patient has a gap between two teeth or even small gaps between several teeth. A gap between the two front teeth can be unsightly but is easy to correct with braces.

An Introduction to Braces
Braces Will Give You a Great Smile and a Comfortable Bite
Traditional braces are a combination of wire, elastic bands, and plastic brackets fitted onto your teeth.
The first step is to attach the metal brackets with a special form of glue. These metal brackets, along with elastic bands, hold the wire in place against the side of your teeth.
We then adjust the wire length to apply gentle pressure on your teeth, encouraging them to move into a new position.
Over time — and after a few adjustment consultations — your teeth will shift into their new alignment.
